I returned to New Zealand in 2020 after spending around 14 years in and around the Middle East. My background is in event operations which was initaially based in Qatar, and upon meeting an old friend with a rigging company in Dubai I packed my bags and headed to the UAE where I discovered a real passion for everything rigging. It wasn’t long before i rose through the ranks becoming the senior project/operations manager. I have project managed the installation two of the world’s longest urban ziplines, built a high ropes course in a dessert oasis, constructing temporary ziplines for concerts and kids festivals and installation of winches and tracking systems in la Pearle (purpose built theatre for Dragone) and theatre installs for such shows as Phantom of the Opera. Towards the end of my stay in Dubai, I started diving deeper into automation and performer flying, with tracking systems and winches.

This role gives me an amazing opportunity to bring the knowledge I have learnt overseas and implement it here in Christchurch, bringing new ideas to life in a fun and creative way.

There is no such thing as a “typical workday” here, every day is different. Whether I’m onsite packing in or packing out, in the office sending emails, loading trucks for jobs or maintaining or repairing stock.

I most enjoy the really crazy out there themes where all the team feel really inspired and starts bouncing ideas around.
